Narrative
Assyria. An empire, vast and huge. An unstoppable force. However this story does not take place on the battlefront. This is a story for the socially sophisticated. It is not a story of savage war. However there is adventure, mystery, suspense, and thrills. It is a story about a young man living in the capital of Assyria. He is a scientist, who faces trouble. In fact on this very day he is on his way to see the King.
“Oh I do hope he will give me the money. If I don’t I’ll probably be broke in less than a week.” Assurnib, a middle aged man, whose profession is an inventor. He is on his way to see the emperor. He makes his way up to the gate and past the guards. He then proceeds up the steps to the kings throne room. “Professor Assurnib arriving, profession, inventor and scientist.” The guard announced as he entered the room. “What do you want professor Assurnib?” the king asked with an authoritative voice. “I am in need of funds to further the progress of my project. I promise that I could make it worth your while.” Assurnib pleaded. “What are you planning on making?” the king asked. “This!” Assurnib replied with excitement as he showed the king a tablet with special symbols and what looked to be quite interesting. “What is this exactly?” the king asked out of curiosity. “This is a formula to create and antidepressant.” “Oh, well, give the man the funds.” The king order to the guards.
Assurnib took his funds and went back to his home. He worked day and night perfecting his formula. Failure after failure, but he was getting closer. He then realized that a certain chemical he needed was not so easy to find. He found out that he would need to travel several miles out into the desert to find the only plant that had the special chemical. He left the city at night because traffic in the streets was much lower at night than during the day. It took him several hours, nearly a whole day to get to the plant. When he finally arrived to the site of the plant he went to extract the chemical. As he was loading it into his horse-drawn cart, bandits came rushing towards him on horseback. They shot arrows at him. He jumped into his cart and whipped the hors3e harder than he had ever whipped before. He grabbed out his bow and arrow that he kept just in case something like this would ever happen. He aimed his bow at them and shot the arrow. Unfortunately he was holding the bow and arrow backwards and he shot his own horse. The horse collapsed to the ground after screaming. He realized what he had done and knew that he was in big trouble now. He grabbed another arrow and, this time hold the bow correctly, shot at the bandits and hit one of them. He drew another arrow and shot and hit another of the bandits. The bandits turned around ran off galloping on their horses.
Assurnib grabbed one of the horses that the bandits left behind. He attached the horse to his cart and made his long journey home. It took him a day and a half but he finally made it back home. When he got there he started to immediately work on it. He put the chemicals in the proper places and made his anti-depressant. It was perfect. Everything was perfect. He put the anti-depressant in a special box with rubies, sapphires, and all kinds of jewels. It was beautiful and looked amazing. He present the box to the king. The box made of gold, it was wonderful and perfect. “This looks, very interesting. What is it?” the king asked. “This is an antidepressant.” Assurnib answered. “Are you depressed, or stressed out my liege?” asked Assurnib. “Yes I am.” The king replied. “Well you should try it. It’s very helpful, and will help you feel better.” Assurnib told. The King then grabbed out the device and smoked the pipe. His eyes became wider, and a large grin appeared on his face. He looked at him and said “This is wonderful. I am speechless. It makes me feel better, and happy. It’s been a long time since I have been happy. We should give this to other people. It will be good for them. We could sell it to other countries and make money off of it. I could be rich, richer than I already am.” The king said with joyous remarks. Assurnib said with a smile, “Could I perhaps, gain money from these selling’s and such?” “Maybe, I’m not sure. Well you did invent it, so I guess I will give credit where credit is due. You may have a good, sizable portion of the profit.” The king answered. “Thank my king.” Assurnib said.
So thus ends our story of adventure and suspense.
